calling snoqualmie valley writers!

the north bend art & industry writers group + pidge post are happy to offer facilitated workshops, designed for all disciplines and skill levels, to hone and support creative writing endeavors.

whether you’re working on a novel, memoir, essay; writing a collection of poems; or just dabbling in the written arts, this is for you!

workshops are hosted twice weekly:

  • Mondays 10-11:30am (North Bend Art & Industry studio)

  • Thursdays 6:30-8pm (South Fork North Bend)

PRIOR TO SESSION

  • choose what you want to share. it can be long-form or short, fiction or non, but it must be 1200 words, max. (That’s about 4 double-spaced pages.)

  • print 5 copies—1 for you to read aloud, 4 for fellow writers to notate

  • if you’re able: sign up using that form, right there (—>) so we know to expect you

IN SESSION

  • each writer reads his/her/their piece aloud

  • while fellow writers read, consider:

    • what’s working well

    • questions you have

    • what could be stronger

    • what makes this work unique or interesting

  • take a few minutes to write your feedback on the page

  • discuss each piece in a positive, supportive way for ~5-10 minutes

AFTER SESSION

  • each writer should have feedback to consider and possibly include in future edits

  • each writer should feel that their practice was respected by the group

  • if you’re really jiving with another person’s work, consider becoming 1:1 support (beta readers?) for each other!
