Word to a Mother | Mar 27

from $25.00

What stories do you hold in your body?
How do you connect these stories to your ancestors?
What comes to mind when you hear the word “matriarchy”?

On March 27, we explore such questions in a workshop that weaves personal reflection into Side Rail Collective’s gallery show, Invisible Threads: Matrilineages of Blood, Time, and Place.

Exhibit curator Shawna Stewart describes Invisible Threads as a challenge to “rethink the way we understand inheritance—not just as the passing down of genetic traits, but as the transmission of memory, wisdom, and strength. Through the act of artistic exploration, we can recover what was lost, reframe what was forgotten, and offer new narratives that give voice to the women who shaped the fabric of our being.

We come together to do just this. Through guided, written meditation and creation, we deepen our connection to those who shaped us and wonder more readily at what we want to leave behind.

Perfect for any curious human craving reflection, connection, and play.
