writer’s circle
Working on a novel, essay, poem, or other piece of writing you want to share with the world? This casual workshop is a space for sharing feedback and encouragement.
Prior to session:
Decide what you’re bringing in (1200 word max)
Sign up [here] by 12pm day-of
I’ll send a follow-up confirming your place and the total number of attendees
Print your piece - enough for each attendee to have his/her own copy
In Session:
Each writer reads his/her piece aloud
Attendees make notes on their printed pages
Take 5-10 minutes to discuss and share feedback
Structured like many creative writing workshops, positive feedback and gentle suggestions encouraged. Writers can define what specifically they want readers to pay attention to/comment on, but know this is not a proofreading session. Comments should be honed toward plot, character development, tone, etc. Minor and grammatical notes can be provided on printed pages, which will be handed back to the writer after the discussion.

new parents
A practice of journaling, sketching, free-writing, and memory capture for pregnant people and new parents. It feels overwhelming to capture it all. We support the process of remembering this time, both for you and your baby, through the use of thoughtful prompts, dedicated space to write and discuss, and, if it serves you, accountability.

Awe within and outside of new parenthood
Gratitude
NBAI writers' workshop (12/21)
Thursdays at 6:30pm | South Fork North Bend
These sessions are informal, consistently-held opportunities to share our work, collect feedback, and plod down the writing path in community. Some things to know as you prepare to join us:
Workshops will be held twice-weekly, beginning 10/19.
Please come with:
any type of writing. We welcome fiction and non-ficton, long-form and short; poems, song lyrics, pages of your children's book or cookbook; the sketchy outline of a story on which you seek feedback; a chapter or essay that cuts off seemingly at random due to the word limit mentioned below.
any state of writing. Your shitty first draft is as welcome your piece that's just about ready for publishing. (I, personally, am in the "shitty first draft" stage!)
a printed copy of your writing, maximum 1000-1500 words (or ~5 double-spaced pages).
Please plan to:
read your work aloud. You will have a brief opportunity to preface specific areas of focus for the group, but will not be able to respond to feedback as it is shared. (I'll clarify this further at our meetings!)
provide thoughtful, supportive notes. In the same way you'll share your work, the rest of the group will share theirs. Suggestions, questions, and constructive feedback are important to the writing process, but remember that writing is personal and vulnerable. Keep it kind.

A bit about me:
I hold a BA in Creative Writing - Poetry from Bucknell University and have served as an editor for literary magazine West Branch, as well as for fiction and non-fiction authors launching careers. In 2019, I self-published my first novel, which has been read >5 million times globally. I currently run Pidge Post, a little haven built to connect people (to self, to community) through writing.
